How to Create a Professional Page on Facebook

  1. You must have a personal page (also known as your PROFILE) first – visit this page.
  2. Now, you’re ready to set up your business or FAN page.

You Just Created Your Profile or Personal Page:

  1. Click “Create a Page” at the bottom of the “Welcome” page.
  2. Select one of the following (whichever best suits your circumstances)
    1. Local business or place (This will usually be the best one.)
    2. Company, organization or Institution
    3. Brand or product
    4. Artist, Band or Public Figure
    5. Entertainment
    6. Cause or Community
  3. For illustration purposes, I clicked on “Local Business or Place.
  4. Click on “Choose a Category”.
    1. I chose “Professional Services”. Your choice might be different.
    2. Fill in:
      1. Business or Place Name
      2. Street Address
      3. City/State
      4. Zip Code
      5. Phone
    3. Check “I agree to Facebook Pages Terms”.
    4. Click “Get Started”.
    5. You will have to verify your email address by clicking on an email sent to by Facebook.
    6. See below for remainder of instructions.
  5. You Already have a Profile or Personal Facebook Page:
  6. Click on upside down triangle at top of personal page.
  7. Select “Create a Page”.
  8. Select one of the following (whichever best suits your circumstances)
    1. Local business or place (This will usually be the best one.)
    2. Company, organization or Institution
    3. Brand or product
    4. Artist, Band or Public Figure
    5. Entertainment
    6. Cause or Community

    1. Click on “Choose a Category”.
      1. I chose “Professional Services”. Your choice might be different.
    2. Fill in:
      1. Business or Place Name (Recommend you use your name with CRS, so your business page will show up in FB searches. I used “Healing Hands Healing Heart”)
      2. Street Address (for your office)
      3. City/State
      4. Zip Code
      5. Phone
    3. Check “I agree to Facebook Pages Terms”.
    4. Click “Get Started”.
    5. This will take you to a “Set Up” page.
  10. Step 1. About
    1. Add a category that describes your RSM practice: Alternative and Holistic Health (I don’t know if you can create your own category.)
    2. Add a description (limited number of characters): “I help my clients uncover and re-discover their internal GPS so they can live the life they want and deserve.” Yours will be different.
    3. If you have a business-related website, enter the URL.
    4. Choose a unique Facebook web address. I used …/healinghearts.
    5. You will be asked two (2) questions, read carefully and select the best answers for you.
    6. Click “Save Info”.
  11. Step 2. Profile Picture
    1. Upload your picture from your computer or website. Don’t leave this blank. People want to know what you look like!
    2. Click “Next”.
  12. Step 3. Add to Favorites
    1. Click “Add to Favorites” so you can access this page at any time.
    2. Click “next”.
  13. Add a Cover
    1. Once you click next, you’ll go to the Admin Panel. To the right of your picture is a box that says “Add a cover”.
    2. This allows you customize your business page.
    3. Photos must be at least 851 x 315 pixels. Most snapshots do not qualify. (See Resources for help with this.)
    4. Click on this box. Upload a photo from your computer. This may take a few moments. CAUTION: Be careful of copyright infringements when using images from the internet.
    5. You are now ready to post content to your business page.
  14. To Navigate Within Your Business Page
    1. Click “Home” in the upper right hand corner to view your newsfeed. You can add posts here.
    2. Click the name of your business page at the top, next to Home, (for me Internal Guidance) to go back to the admin panel, where you can:
      1. Edit Page
      2. Build Audience
      3. Receive Help
      4. See private messages sent by others
      5. Make posts
  15. To return to your profile or personal page:
    1. Click on the little sun or upside down triangle in the upper right hand corner.
    2. Select the page you want.
